Chapter 1. Fundamental Dimensions
Length, mass, and time are the three fundamental dimensions on which the
measurement of all physical quantities is dependent.
- DEFINE the three fundamental dimensions: length,
mass, and time.
- LIST standard units of the fundamental dimensions for
each of the following systems:
- International System of Units (SI)
- English System
- DIFFERENTIATE between fundamental and derived
measurements.
Chapter 2. Unit Conversions
In order to apply measurements from the SI system to the English system, it is
necessary to develop relationships of known equivalents (conversion factors).
These equivalents can then be used to convert from the given units of measure to
the desired units of measure.
- CONVERT between English and SI units of length.
- CONVERT between English and SI units of mass.
- CONVERT time measurements between the following:
- Years
- Weeks
- Days
- Hours
- Minutes
- Seconds
